Mentor and friend…It’s been Two and a half years since Tom’s passing. I miss him a lot. Tom was one who would always tell it like it is; always backing up his advice with scripture. He was very solid, yet approachable… “A Velvet Covered Brick”!

Thomas Jefferson Bailey Jr. “Tom Bailey Jr.,” 51, died Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Prestonwood Baptist Church with Matt Chandler officiating. Arrangements are by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.

Tom was born Oct. 25, 1955, in Sikeston, Mo.

After moving to Amarillo in March 1965, Tom graduated from Amarillo High School in 1974. Tom met Brenda Clark in 1973 at Amarillo High School. Tom and Brenda celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary June 28th, 2005 in Plano, where they have lived since March 1982. After spending many years teaching Sunday school for youth, college and young singles, Tom sold his business to start a full-time ministry devoted to discipleship and counseling. Ichthus Ministries (www.IchthusMinistries.WordPress.com) has been running strong for 18 years and has touched countless lives through the teaching and dedication of this man empowered by the Holy Spirit. His legacy lives on through this ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; a son, Bryan and wife Jenni of Rogers, Ark.; a daughter, Alicia Strange and husband Teddy of Memphis, Tenn.; his parents, Dixie and Thomas Bailey Sr. of Elk City, Okla.; two brothers, David Bailey and wife Beverly of Frisco and Mike Bailey of Derby, Kan.; two sisters, Emily Johnson and husband Jeff of Elk City and Susanne Sherrin and husband Bobby of Lusby, Md.; and a grandson, Caden Thomas Bailey, who will miss his “Tom-Tom.”

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Ichthus Ministries, 1805 Eden Valley Lane, Plano, TX 75093.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home near McKinney. Amarillo Globe-News, May 2, 2007.

    Well, hard to believe that it’s now been two years since you moved on! Hope you’re preparing the supper table for us as we’ll all be joining you soon. Doesn’t look like His return will be delayed much longer! Perhaps within a year or two at most? We’ll see!
